Just to let anyone who uses it know that I've updated the Flat Blue High Visibility skin on the wiki, to make it work with the latest version of gbpvr (0.92.8) and xrecord, as well as myvideos v4.

cheers,

  live TV error message
Posted by: bmel88 - 2005-05-25, 03:52 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I installed 0.92.8 tonight and seems to work ok except: when trying to use live tv, I get an error message - "debug assertion failed!" with some addition dialogue. If I follow the instructions and keep retrying, the dialog box goes away but I cannot change channels with the up and down keys as I used to in the previous version.

  Strange error in Recordings menu option
Posted by: jayzee54 - 2005-05-25, 03:34 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (1)

I get the following error when I relect the recordings button from the main menu. This only happens with the skin I've been trying to customize. I can't see anything in the GBPVR log file that even references such a problem. However, the error dialog provides the following info:

Any tips woul d be much appreciated.

  Dual Tuner Setup
Posted by: jdsnov73 - 2005-05-25, 02:39 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I had my system setup originally with a PVR-150 card hooked up to a digital cable box, using a serial connection to change channels. In the GBPVR config setup, this tuner card is configured as "Capture Device #1".

I just installed a second card, a PVR-150MCE, and have it hooked up with plain analog cable. In the GBPVR config setup, this tuner card is configured as "Capture Device #2".

I am able to view live tv with both cards. I will pick a show that forces the digital card to be in control, and it will show it. But when I go to the task bar, and click on show status, it shows "Capture Source #2:" in "Live TV(LivePreview Mode)", and it shows "Capture Source #1:" as "Sleeping".

This is confusing because the channel that is being viewed is coming from the digital PVR-150 card, which is set up as "Capture Device #1". Are "Capture Device" and "Capture Source" (2) different things?

It does the opposite thing when I pick an analog channel that is being controlled by the PVR-150MCE "Capture Device #2" card.

I am able to record a show using "Capture Device #2", and watch a show on "Capture Device #1". But I am unable to record on each card at the same time. It shows it is recording if I open the task bar manager. It will create a folder for both shows, but only the show that is on the original digital tuner card is actually recording. The folder for the other show is just left empty.

I know this is a long winded story, and I could elaborate more, but I haven't been able to find any posts that gave a clear explanation on how to properly set up a dual tuner system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

  Sapphire Theatrix: Bit rate Settings
Posted by: TheThinMan - 2005-05-25, 12:34 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hello,
I have been using GB-PVR since version 91.12 with my Theatrix card. I have been using GraphEdit to adjust the bitrate on both video & audio, since it was not yet able to be adjusted in GB-PVR. I just installed 92.8 & and no matter what I set the bit rate at in "Medium/Default" it records at 3Mbps bitrate with a peak of 7Mpbs variable and the Audio stays at 384kbps no matter what I set it at (192, 224, etc). However, the video bitrates appear to "stick" in Custom1 & Custom2 quality settings, but again the audio stays at 384kbps no matter what I set them at. Do I need to uninstall GB-PVR completely and make a fresh install with 92.8 to get the bitrates to work properly? I know without a doubt this is the best program available for the Theatrix, paid or free! I just want to get the bitrates to work for my setup. Thanks for any assistance provided.

  No OSD buttons
Posted by: reboot - 2005-05-24, 10:10 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

Just upgraded to 9208, and most everything is working. A couple of small bugs, but that's because of my skin, not the program...however...
I am using VMR9 for playback, Intervideo Non-CSS (default), and the OSD used to show the FF, RW, Play, Pause buttons etc. They worked in FindFast/Watch, TV Guide/Watch, Videos/Play, MyVideos/Play, etc...now nothing.
It also used to show the program info in a box at the bottom.
This would all disappear after a few seconds, but return when moving the mouse over it.
What changed?

  go.ini AND direct.ini
Posted by: 40thFloor - 2005-05-24, 09:07 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Where to find details on the makeup of go.ini?

For example, video compression=1 or =2 or =3, does what, if anything.

For example, the custom settings don't include all the entries as do the other settings:

[NTSC-Low Quality]
VideoResolution=352 x 240
TargetBitrate=1500000
DvdCompliant=0
VideoCompression=3
AudioSampleRate=48000
AudioSampleBits=16
AudioChannels=2

[NTSC-Custom1 Quality]
VideoResolution=720 x 480
TargetBitrate=4000000
DvdCompliant=0
VideoCompression=1

[NTSC-Custom2 Quality]
VideoResolution=720 x 480
TargetBitrate=5000000
DvdCompliant=0
VideoCompression=1

[NTSC-LiveTV Quality]
VideoResolution=720 x 480
TargetBitrate=5000000
DvdCompliant=0
VideoCompression=1
AudioSampleRate=48000
AudioSampleBits=16
AudioChannels=2

For example, DvdCompliant=0 means what? Or did I miss getting the memo where this stuff was covered.

And then there's direct.ini, which is sort of like go.ini, only a lot bigger. And the bitrates seems more realistic.

[SETUP-High Quality]
VideoResolution=0
OutputType=14
BitRate=5500
AudioSampleRate=1
AudioBitrate=11
AudioOutput=0 // 0:Stereo, 1:JS, 2Big GrinC, 3:Mono
BitRatePeak=9000
AudioCompression=11
EncodingMode=1

Audio compression=11? And is the AudioOutput= spec available in general?

  Net Radio drops out after about 20 minutes

My NetRadio connection drops reliably after about 20 minutes. I have all my power settings set to always on, and have my screen saver disabled. Any other things I should set? Thanks.

  Thinking Of Replacing PVR350 with MVP
Posted by: cameluk - 2005-05-24, 07:03 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (22)

I've got fed up with the problems of using the output of the PVR-350 with locking up, and Subs announcement that no further development is planned although I love the quality on screen

I've gone through all the MVP threads here and read the info in the wiki and am thinking about getting a MVP.

I know I can't play DVDs through the MVP but what features of the lastest versions of GBPVR i.e multi speed FF and aspect ratio control are not available when using the MVP?
