I noticed a different behavior between the latest version and the previous - I watch almost exclusively from 2 different Win 10 clients, and almost always watch recorded shows. Previously, if I allowed a recording to run to its end, the playback would stop and return gracefully to the recordings list interface. Now, it appears my playback ends paused near the last frame of the recording, and I have to push stop or esc several times to return to the list. If I let the recording sit stopped at end for along time, like overnight, NPVR will appear unresponsive and need to be restarted. I think I recall some enhancement listed for treating shows fully watch as not being "resumable" at end - maybe this behavior is desired or an outcome of those changes?
Ever since my upgrade to NextPVR 3.7.7 the SmartTV app often drops into the modern web interface "What's New" screen after I've finished playing
a show. As this screen is unresponsive to the Samsung remote control
I need to constantly exit and restart the SmartTV NextPVR app.
Is there a way to fix this behavior?
I currently have version 3.6.6
If i update to version 3.7.7 will I lose my channel mapping settings?
When i set it up I remember I had to change each channel separately to XMLTV and tell the program where to get the correct data for each channel individually and it took hours to figure it all out.
If i would need to do this again i'd rather not update. Will I lose this if i update? Thanks.
Hi,
I now have a Hauppauge WinTV-HPR-2250 working fine with NextPVR using
the Hauppauge builtin IR blaster but I need to add a 2nd independent
IR Blaster for use with a 2nd set top cable box (DCT700).
I have two different Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver models
(HP & Philips) but I have been unable to get either working
under Windows 10 64-bit. Both are recognized by the operating system,
my problem seems to be with the IR Blaster software.
The most promising software that I've found is the MediaPortal
IR Server Suite (271472_IR_Server_Suite_-_Test_Build_1.5.0.116)
but I get the error message "(0x80004005): A device attached to the
system is not functioning" in IR Server.log when I test using irblast.exe.
Has anyone encountered this issue? How can I debug it further?

so i have shitty client rpi3 ... ok it sorta sucks but maybe i just haven't configured it properly yet. there's still no excuse for this though. ... it's your plugin, and your server software, your server software at least should know not to do this.
my slow ass client was being slow, so i pressed the record button twice. what happened? ah it started recording the exact same show twice, at the exact same time with a duplicate looking file name. please see attached picture. [ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]
there's literally no use case where you'd want this to happen. ... the resource monitor shows 6MB/s ... 48mbps ... 2 streams getting written for one channel same thing... how? why? who? who would want this?
anyhoo needless to say the rpi won't tune to another channel while this craziness ensues. Also, when we reach the end of what's been recorded, instead of just becoming live tv like you'd expect in a pvr application, it stopped. maybe that's kodi's fault. i'll go tell them about it too.
I have a problem with a particular show recording only approximately 23 mbs. No error or fail message in the GUI of NextPvr or the logs that I can see(but I am no expert). The problem only happens on one show (Quantum Leap) on channel 5.2 OTA Chicago. It mostly happens on the shows with a start time of 12:00 am local time so it seems to be a day change problem? Anyways the shows that are short changed are Quantum Leap_20160719_00000100.ts, Quantum Leap_20160720_00000100.ts, and Quantum Leap_20160721_00000100.ts. Each one shows a time stamp of 11:55 pm in windows explorer and each ones file size is 22.5 MB (23,645,136 bytes). Two other recordings that may show up in the logs but do not have a problem are Quantum Leap_20160717_22002300.ts and Quantum Leap_20160717_22002300.ts. They have a time stamp of 9:55 pm and 10:55 pm respectfully. Thanks in advanced to all helping in this matter. By the way, Great program! Thanks to ALL that helped with this great PVR software and the plugins too. Latter.
I was thinking about changing from Windows 10 to Windows Server 2012 R2 on the PC that runs nextPVR. I use Windows Server 2012 R2 for my movie server and teamed 2 NICs and noticed it was easier to stream to multiple media servers (Raspberry Pi3 using Kodi) in my house. I was thinking of doing the same thing with the PC currently running nextPVR. I am hoping that teaming NICs would allow my media servers to watch TV to maybe get rid of some cable boxes.
Enough rambling, would Windows Server 2012 R2 be a better solution? Does anyone have a similar setup or can offer some advice?
I have an rpi3 client. I understand there are other forums that support it and belieb me i am asking for support there too... on its own issues.
This time I've confirmed a nextpvr issue by running upstairs to where my server is and trying to play a channel in nextpvr right after the rpi had problem. Choosing any channel, even SD in nextpvr made a blank screen. This instance occured on 7/21/2016 ~ 2:15pm ... i was going to pastebin just those logs but then i read your sticky and you want all the logs in the folder, zipped. so here they are.
the other logs may tell tales of rpi3 buffering and stuttering during playback, and big time trouble when channel switching. i am working on optimizing its configuration. when set to just one channel, it can work 80%... it's on wifi so it buffers every once in awhile and i expect to fix with cache settings. it is butter smooth bringing up menus and cpu is not stressed. it's really close to working. if you're intrersted in my rpi3 issues, here's a link:
Otherwise, please help with why nextPVR sometimes comes up blank the way it just did this pm? sometimes it goes right into a channel and works fine, outside of buffering issues.
Also, i havent touched the settings in ffdshow (ffdshow mplayer codecs are what i use for everything in the decoders page, lav does nothing, and you all say better performance than windoze dtv whatevers)
Are there settings i may use in nextpvr to optimize the stream and make it more wifi friendly? but in all seriousness, why this morning it startup fine, now it comes up blank? i bet if i restart it'll work ok for awhile.
Many thanks for your helps.
i confirm closing nextpvr app and service, then restarting them has produced an sd image on my pc, also within 5s we may switch to hd espn and that works too.
Making progress on changing the channels on my STB using a USB-UIRT and uutx.exe to send the IR codes.
I can send the codes fine from the command line and the channel changes. That works fine for single digit channels. But for more than one digit I have to have several uutx commands in the bat file, one for each digit. That also works okay.
However if I use that same bat file in this option in Nextpvr it doesn't seem to execute the bat file at all. I know that it's invoking that part of the code since if I have uutx.exe as the exe and the hex string for the code to send as the argument that works okay. But I need to send more than one code and a bat file seems to be the only way. nrecord.log indicates that it tried to execute the bat file
I am using the TV Listings plugin from the NextPVR TV Listings wiki page.
My issue, as you can see from the image, is when you go to Listings and choose Categories the popup box doesn't scroll so if you have more categories than 15 your mouse curser goes off the screen and it is anyone's guess which category you get
I've looked at Skin\Default\TV Listings\CategoriesPopup.xml and I see where there is a markup for scrolling but am lost in getting it to work.
Any ideals? I do recognize compatibility is for NPVR_v3_3 and I am using NPVR 3.7.7
