My HDD started having bad sectors so I had to get a new HDD and do a complete reinstall.
As far as GBPVR is concerned, can I just do an install then copy my old gbpvr backup directory over the new install? Will this then retain my old recordings? Or can I just copy over the database?
I have an irritating problem that someone may be able to help with. Its not a show stopper, but if someone has a solution that would be great.
I have recently installed a Hauppauge PVR500 removing the original PVR150. Now whenever I watch either LiveTV or a recorded program I experience a very slight pause in playback that occurs roughly every 5 seconds. Its just a very small pause then the program continues for another 5 seconds. This behaviour was not evident with the original PVR150 on this box.
Playback of live tv in Wintv2000 and recorded programs through Windows Media Player on the same machine is normal with no micro pauses and playback on another Client Mode PC (either LiveTV or recorded program) is normal also. Its just on the one machine (that is acting as the GBPVR server) that experiences the problem.
The server box is an AMD4200 with 2 x 250GB disks in a RAID0 config. I have updated the Hauppauge and NVidia drivers but no improvement. The log files all look normal with no Error messages present. I have monitored the Task Manager and other than a second copy of GBPVR.EXE in the mix, I cannot see evidence of any other program running that could be getting in the way.
Has anyone else experienced micro pauses at regular period like this and found a solution?
As sub has noted in other threads his focus is on video so the Music Player part of gbpvr is pretty basic. Having seen what MCE can do with music I thought I would try the Musicplayer plugin.
It installed okay and my music library is on a network drive with about 30 folders (albums) with about 15 songs/album. gbpvr plays those fine.
But when I select Musicplayer a few problems occur
1. It takes ages for the plugin to display all the songs in folder (hour glass is displayed)
2. Sometimes navigation doesn't work - that is trying to move from folder to folder using the cursor doesn't do anything.
3. Installation of the plugin has affected playback of videos - they now play jerkily whereas before it was all smooth. I confirmed this by deselecting the plugin in the config application and then deleting all the DLL's in the Plugin directory
I wonder if anybody has had a similar problem to what I am describing
I was going back and forth about getting an HDTV card and was checking out what was on Ebay. Well, long story short, I threw in a really low bid for a HDTV card figuring it'd get sniped - and I ended up winning
I noticed it's on the list of supported hardware so that's reassuring, but does anyone have any experience with this card? It's a Dvico Fusion HDTV 1 (rev 3.0) PCI Card. Any comments or gotchas to look out for?
Also, this may be a basic question, but since I've never actually recorded HD before, can you pick the resolution that you want to record? ie. 1080i vs 720p or 480i, etc? Or are you stuck with what they broadcast at?
Trying to set up a manual recording and TV guide does not show anything.
Using a cable box with WinTV HVR 1600.
Only one channel used (channel 4).
I am assuming there is a way to load up the tv Guide with this set up.
I use my cable box remote to change channels and all works well.
just cant seam to record at specific times. When I choose manual record
it is set up for one hour and no settings can be changed. Start time, Stop Time, Quality settings etc will not change.

The last few weeks I've missed a few shows because the IR (USB-UIRT) didn't seem to manage to change the channel (internal tuner changes work). In the same way, even on the PC the up arrow did not change the channel on my DSL box, except when I restarted GBPVR, then it was OK again. Is this down to a "loss of focus"?
My PC is fairly low spec, but used to work Ok, prior to a recent Xp/GVPVR new install. Would ForceHighPriority for the RecordingService help this? I am fairly sure I previously enabled this, from my old config. I only really need the priority during the channel change if that helps?
The show was this on channel 541 at 6~8pm last night, but the DSL box didn't change from Ch 685?

Seems some errors initialising the Tray Icon Plugin, but they are unrelated I guess.

There's lots of these in the MVP-gbpvr.exe.log, but they are unrelated too I guess.

I'm going to be moving to a new apartment and I plan to hook a DirectTV D10 receiver to my Hauppauge WinTV PVR150 and I want to use that IR Blaster thingy to change the channels.
So .... how do I connect the D10 to the PVR150? Can I get away with S-Video, or do i have to use the RCA plugs?
This is a post because I found out that more people where having problems with this issue:
Changing the decoder from PVR350 to software and visa versa, without opening the GBPVR-config util (which btw restarts the GBPVR-service; this is a problem when you're in the middle of a recording)
I found a solution, sort of.
I have a not to fast PC for GBPVR (P4, 1,7GHz). But in combination with the PVR350 decoder it works fine. (I cannot watch a recorded program, and record at the same time while using the TV-out of the videocard; the comskip process uses to much CPU. And I'm spoiled, I like comskip right away, not as process overnight)
The PVR350-out does not work for the DivX and Xvid. For those I will use the TV-out of the videocard. However, it is only possible to select one decoder (hardware or software).
To solve this problem I wrote a little batch file (called switch.bat), that copies a backup of the config.xml to the config.xml. This backup is the configurationfile of GBPVR which is exactly the same, but only the decoder is not the PVR350, but the software decoder (or vv). This batchfile also restarts the GBPVR interface and backups the config.xml with the other decoder setting.
To get the right configurations in place, you should delete the files config.xml.prev en config.xml.next (if present). Then start the batchfile switch.bat once. Then open the GBPVR config util. Change the decoder setting from PVR350 to software or visa versa. And it should work now. Don't forget to do this every time you change anything in the GBPVR configuration util. (or update to a new GBPVR version). If you don't, you will be stucked with a not updated configuration every time you switch to one of the two configurations.
To start the batch file I added a menu item, called SWITCH in the main menu, which starts the batch file called: switch.bat
For those who would like to try this, this is my batch file:
It appears that the mplex.exe file on the cuttermaran distribution is no longer available. It has been converted to a dll file. Can somebody tell me where I can get a copy of the mplex.exe necessary to complete the Video Archive installation?
